Apparently, mosquitoes never sleep...EVER!

A breeding herd at the camp waterhole.
This blog I write sitting on my deck watching some elephant down by the waterhole and enjoying the breeze whipping my hair around. Normally I would be mumbling about such a breeze as it is rather irritating. Not today.

The Early Bird...catches 2 Lion?

Bird transects are not always the most exciting…well not compared to tracking lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog anyway. The last 2 mornings I have woken up at 5am, had some coffee, fed and bathed Squishy and left camp by 6:15 am to go and conduct these 2km bird transects for Bird Life Botswana. While the exercise itself is not all that complicated, driving off road in this area is no joke. I have been amazed at what these vehicles can actually do.

All in a Days Raut!

The quietest part of the day in camp is just after lunch. The generators are turned off and everyone returns to their tents for a quiet nap. Even the constantly squabbling squirrels have quieted their racket.to escape the heat of the day. Everyone has got the memo except for two young bull elephants down by the waterhole.

Leopard, Leopard, Leopard!!!!

Now while most of you might think that the title of my blog is not very original it in fact has a point to it. The title is in memory of my dear family traumatizing me at an early age while on our annual trip to Kruger National Park. Leopard sitings are often brief. In fact, I am sure that alot of people rely on pictures of leopards to find out what the rest of their body apart from their tails look like.

A ponder for the day...

Our world is so beautiful, so intricate, so well planned…how could anyone not believe it was made especially for us? God created this world and we are to look after it as best we can, through the talents He has given us.
